GET TO KNOW OUTLOOK’S PEOPLE

This month:

RAY BALFANZ

Ray is President and Principal at Outlook Management Group.
In his life outside of work, Ray enjoys travel, fishing and boating,
and finding serenity in the middle of a lake.

When you’re not working, what do you most enjoy doing?
I like to travel. My wife and I have been to Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Villarta, the Bahamas, Aruba, and St Lucia. We’ve stayed at many great cabins on northern Wisconsin lakes, and we’ve recently purchased a lake home, so I’m looking forward to many more days on the lake! I like to boat and fish, and I love the peace and serenity of sitting in the middle of a lake.

Back at home, do you do any volunteer work?
I’ve volunteered with the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) and was President of the Milwaukee Chapter. I’ve also worked with Rebuilding Together, and most recently Hunger Task Force, where I created the CollectionConnection food drives for the past four years.

What is something on your bucket list?
Traveling to Europe. Doing the river tours there really intrigues me.

What three words would you choose to describe your bestpersonality traits?
Driven. Resilient. Patient.

Do you have any general life advice you’d share with a teenager or other young person?
When I was younger, I cared more about where the next party was, quite the comparison to where I am today. But I would say enjoy life — because you only get one. Do what you like to do, but balance it with work and/or life. It’s hard to do sometimes, but you need to take the time to enjoy friends and family in addition to working hard.
